On May 7, Christians across the country will join together to pray for our government, our military, our families, our churches, and for the people of our nation, as together we endure the health and economic crisis that has engulfed the world. The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.

Father, thank You for America, for the privilege of being free… Tell God how much it means to you to be an American….
Father, as I think about the effect of the pandemic, I pray for… Government leaders who are making critical decisions… People who are sick with the virus… Doctors, nurses, and first-responders… Business owners and their employees… Individuals and families having to shelter in place… Those who have lost loved ones…
Father, I pray for the lost throughout our country, and for these I know (name them) … Help them to receive Christ and believe in His name… In Jesus’ name, amen.
